Frank Educational School is located near Dagoretti and AHI has been working there since December 2013. There are currently about 150 pupils in the school. School fees is not compulsory as many of the children are either orphaned or financially unable. There are however parents who donate what they can for the running of the school. The teachers and other staff at the school are volunteers and salary is dependent on the amount of donations the school receives per month.
Thus far we have managed to give over a hundred fictional and educational books the school (click here for images). This was the first phase of the three phase book drive initiated by AHI to start and promote a reading culture not only in FEC but in other schools the organization partners with as well. The target for this phase of the book drive is 350+ books. Additional books will be forwarded to the final phase aiming to collect 3000+ books.
We are therefore requesting individuals and like-minded groups assist AHI in the collection of books to help build a library. We kindly ask the books be in relatively good condition (covers, no missing pages etc.) and relevant to children between nursery and Class Eight. The drop off point is Bruce House 14th floor, North Wing- Telecommunications Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK). For directions call Joseph on +255 721 930 681.
